The Virgin Mary accounts for a substantial number of these sightings.
A famous example is the 'Clearwater Virgin', where an image of Mary was reported to have appeared in the glass façade of a finance building in Clearwater, Florida, and attracted widespread media attention.
The building drew an estimated one million visitors over several years before it was purchased by an Ohio Catholic revivalism group.
When these images receive publicity, they typically become attractions and people are willing to travel considerable distances to see them, and to venerate them.
Since finding his sacred log, Dean Hansen says he has kept it under wraps from the public and it isn’t known if he has plans to put it on show to the general public.
