Baby Jesus Story  Biography
For Drake and Christina Levasheff, the year 2004 brought an incredible gift. On December 24th, Christmas Eve, they welcomed Judson Drake Levasheff into their lives, a vibrant baby boy. They were filled with all the anticipation and excitement that comes with parenting a first-born child, and relieved their son was free of any health concerns when they took him home Christmas Day (in fact, his APGAR score was perfect).
Though Jud was a challenging infant with feeding and sleep issues, as he grew in strength and character he became an absolute delight. Judson met all the milestone markers for babies and children, while even exceeding certain expectations, particularly with his speech. However, out of the blue, at the end of May 2007, when he was 29 months old, Jud began stumbling...
Just five months later, on November 7, 2007, after rapidly becoming paralyzed, blind, and mute, Drake and Christina held their almost 3-year-old son as he breathed his last breaths.
Who is Judson?
So who is this little blonde boy with big brown eyes that lived only a few short years but continues to capture hearts?
In many ways, Judson was like any other young boy. He loved the outdoors, seeming to have an uncanny ability to find nearby mud and wind up covered in it. He enjoyed hunting for roly-poly bugs — collecting the tiny crustaceans and then putting them on the sidewalk to watch them slowly unroll and scatter. Everyday held something new at the park outside the Levasheff home; Jud could be found swinging, sliding, cooking sand cereal at the playground counter, or reaching out to other kids to make new friends.
Jud was also thoroughly interested in all forms of transportation. He would get particularly excited when he spotted a "double-tanker truck" on the road, and usually carried a Matchbox vehicle in one hand, no matter where he went and knew whether it was an "Audi S Coupe" or a "Scion." The pages to his book Cars, Trucks, and Things That Go were well-worn and he was a fan of Lightning McQueen and Thomas the Tank Engine. Judson loved to pretend to drive, regularly asking, "Can I sit in the driver's seat?" and his dream was to see a Monster Truck show; if someone mentioned they had a surprise for him, he would enthusiastically ask, "Am I going to a monster truck show?"
Judson loved surprises. It could be as simple as surprising him with white cheddar popcorn and his face would light up as if he had just been given the greatest gift on earth. When he would visit his grandparents, the first words out of his mouth tended to be, "Do you have a surprise for me?
Judson, himself, was full of surprises; one thing that surprised Drake and Christina most about Jud was how much he loved to sing. He could hear a new song just once or twice and then sing it word for word. Because of his strikinmemory, he had a vast repertoire of songs to croon. One day, his Grammy decided to challenge him by singing the Star Spangled Banner; it took only about five times of hearing the full song before Jud was singing the entire anthem — however, he did declare that it was a "hard song" and needed to be bribed to perform it for the camera (see Jud sing the National Anthem).
Whether it be playing in a water fountain, perusing the isles of a toy store, building tall towers with his blocks and knocking them down like "Judzilla," or sipping his special "coffee" with his parents, Judson had a ready-smile and enjoyed life with the wonder, energy, and eagerness of any 2 year-old-boy.
