Baby Jesus Quotes Biography
“Jesus the Messiah, Biography of the Word” is a simple, straightforward adaptation and correlation of the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John and other referencing material for research. An examination of the first three, known as the Synoptic Gospels, agrees mostly to content and order but follow a generalized chronology. The chronology for events in the creation of the “Biography” has been rendered to be a smooth flow between gospels. Events have been added or expanded to provide the detail that must surely have taken place over the span of Jesus’ life.
The “Gospel of John” seems to have been written independently of the other three although John as an eyewitness filled in the details that were needed for several events. Mark was not known to be a follower of Jesus during his ministry. And of course Luke never saw Jesus as he was a physician in a distant city and who became a follower of Paul. Paul, of course, was not a disciple of Jesus and it is not known if he ever saw Jesus.
As Jesus´ life and ministry of events were in a chronological order, the “Biography” brings together the four gospels into one cohesive and suggested chronology of events. Some events have been placed to follow a story line that will logically flow, particularly those events where the exact chronology matters little; e.g., Nicodemus´ visit to Jesus at night where he declares that Jesus is "a teacher who has come from God" although Jesus has done little to show that he is from God at this early time.
The “Biography” begins with Mary’s visit to her cousin, Elisabeth, in Ain Karem. Elisabeth is to be the mother of John the Baptist. Hence , Jesus and John the Baptist were cousins. Jesus was also a cousin to John and James, sons of Zebedee and Salome. The “Biography” follows the Gospels in describing Jesus’ life. It has twelve chapters and ends after the Apostles have selected the thirteenth person, Matthias, to be an Apostle.
The visit of the Magi to pay homage to baby Jesus has been expanded. Contrary to popular belief, the Magi undoubtedly could not have presented their gifts to baby Jesus in the stable in Bethlehem. After viewing the star, traveling, speaking with King Herod, they would have arrived in Bethlehem some time after Jesus’ birth. Jesus had been presented in the Temple at Jerusalem some days after his birth and circumcision and then was carried by Joseph and Mary to their home in Nazareth. The Magi followed and found Jesus in Nazareth.
Other major details have been added. These details can be questioned but cannot be disproved; e.g., inheritance and ownership of two houses by Jesus which were owned by Joseph, one in Nazareth and one in Capernaum. Again this detail is added to provide the family of Joseph and Jesus with living quarters for the three and half years of his ministry. Other details were added or changed to provide suggested answers to nagging questions. For example, is the incident(s) of a woman anointing Jesus´ feet with perfume one event or two completely separate but coincidental events? And the "soul" is defined when Jesus asks, "What can a man give in exchange for his soul?"
Both endings of Mark, short and long, have been consolidated with the other Gospel endings. And some interpretations do not mention the angel that ministers to Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane. It is not included in this writing because it is not logical that Jesus’ Father would have sent him help if He had turned His face from him and deserted him during this time. Also answered is the reason Jesus was suffering while he was in the Garden.
The travels of Jesus and his group are difficult to follow in a chronological sequence within the gospels. And the setting and location for some of his teachings are unknown. Some have been left vague but time and place have been given to most of his travels.
The story line uses common language and grammar. Few additions, deletions or changes have been made to Jesus’ words. Quotes from one gospel have been added to quotes from other gospels to provide expansion and continuity of thought. Some quotes by other individuals have been changed to provide better grammar for readers in this modern period. Definitions for some words and meanings to some conversations have been added. The Gospels in the modern versions of the Bible are easy to understand but there are places where one must be acquainted with Jewish history to understand the meaning of a verse(s); e.g., what does the word "corban" mean, or why did Pilate mingle the blood of Galileans with the blood of sacrifices?
Like the Gospels, “Jesus the Messiah, Biography of the Word” is a work considered to be interdenominational. Some events have been composed which will cause discussion for most denominations. Nothing has been written which will cause a conflict with the original material. However interpretations of the original matter differ from person to person, denomination to denomination which will cause much discussion.
What happens when you die? What happens to the body, soul and spirit? The body returns to dust and the spirit goes back to God who gave it. But what about the soul? What is the soul and where does it go when you die? Who has been resurrected? What is meant when Jesus responds to the thief on the cross? The “Biography” will provide answers to these questions that follow logical, biblical reasoning.
In some areas the “Biography” will appear to be opposed to current denominational teachings and traditions. But this is a logical “Biography”’ of the word. For example, not all of the Apostles were poor. Peter, Andrew, James and John were successful fishermen who owned valuable boats. Matthew, son of Alphaeus, was a tax collector and his brother, James, probably was also and they would have had good incomes derived from honest and/or dishonest practices. Little is known of the income of the other six Apostles. Judas Iscariot carried a bag containing money used for sustenance of the group. The expenses for a group of thirteen plus some supporting women and varying numbers of other disciples, at least 72 at one count, for approximately three and half years would have been considerable. Women were major financial contributors to Jesus’ mission.
The Passover Feast (the Last Supper) and the preparation of the menu are described in detail. The lamb, vegetables, bread, herbs and wine are described. People ate with their hands. Four glasses of wine were served at the feast. Grape juice was not pasteurized so it would not keep from the summer harvest season until the next spring without fermenting or becoming sour and undrinkable.
Why read “Jesus the Messiah, Biography of the Word” when the texts of the modern bibles have been translated so clearly? “Jesus the Messiah, Biography of the Word” is not intended to be a substitute for the original Gospels. It was written to provide answers to frequently asked questions, a smooth and logical flow between similar verses of the Gospels, a chronology of events between Gospels and data which should be known for a better understanding. Verses of the same event have been written into the same paragraph to provide easy reading.
As the story line follows the four Gospels a reading of the “Biography” will provide a basis of understanding for those who consider themselves inexperienced in Bible reading or study. Not only will adults find it interesting but children will also find it easy to follow and remember. The reading will provide little known information; e.g., why did the Sea of Galilee have such violent storms?
Blessed are you, the deaf cannot hear a scream
Blessed are the stupid who can dream
Blessed are the tin canned cardboard slums
Blessed is the spirit that overcomes."
Blessed is the voice that speaks truth to power
Blessed is the sex worker who sold her body tonight
She used what she got
To save her children's life
Blessed all of you with an empty heart
For you got nothing from which you cannot part
Blessed is the ego
It's all we got this hour.
