Our good friends over at Stoke Newington International Airport are hosting a very special edition of their Ping Pong Quiz Show.
“It’s a well known that for 15 years the whereabouts and activities of little baby Jesus in the bible are unknown. At 14 he is seen chatting to magicians at a wizard conference, and then nothing till he is 30 and performing some pretty radical tricks of his own. So what was he doing in the mean time?
Well I can tell you. He was playing ping pong.
Thats right. Little baby Jesus loved the pong. They removed this section from the official biographies cos he was going after the David Blaine angle and thought that being a remembered as Nazareth’s leading table tennis exponent might make him sound less magical.
But with the recent discovery of the Gospel of St Harold we now know the shocking and fantastic truth. Little Baby Jesus nearly gave up preaching to turn pro!
To celebrate the birth of of LBJ We will host a special Christmas edition of PING PONG QUIZ SHOW!”
The Game Starts at 8 30 pm sharp, Friday 21st December 2012
There are hopes among Christians that it will help to restore some of the knowledge of the origins of their faith, a story once so familiar to the thousands of children who attended Wales' Sunday schools.
It tells the story of Jesus's birth through the eyes of three quails. Free copies will be sent with a teaching pack to all 26,000 primary schools in the UK.
Steve Legg, head of the Breakout Trust, a religious charity, said, 'When I heard about the boy asking why Jesus Christ was named after a swear word that really hit me. There are over 12 million children in the UK and only 756,000 of them go to church regularly.
'That leaves a staggering number who don't and are probably not receiving basic Christian teaching.'
Geraint Davies, Welsh secretary of the teachers' union NASUWT, said, 'The days of Sunday schools regularly attended by thousands of children in Wales have long gone. Society has changed. Religion is very much in crisis especially in terms of participation from young people and children.'
But he said that as a Christian himself he thinks the resource will be a useful tool and welcomed by teachers.
'After all the teaching of the Christian faith is part of the religious education syllabus which every school has to deliver,' he said.
'A new and fresh resource will only enhance that delivery. It should help teachers immensely.
'So it should be widely used in the run-up to Christmas.'
The film took three years to make and aims to teach children about the Christmas story at the same time as being entertaining.
Mr Legg saidhe was trying to offer a balanced view in a world when some nativity plays have been called off because they do not apply to religions outside Christianity.
He said, 'We are not trying to ram religion down people's throats, but at a time when political correctness is so prevalent, it is important to ensure a basic level of teaching continues in our schools.'
